After 10 years of experience in the field of education, first as a school teacher then as an educator of young children, I made the decision to strike out on my own. For what ?
For me, the observation is simple: the French education system struggles to support and develop the well-being of children. The difficulties that we encounter both in the field of early childhood and within National Education encroach on the well-being of children, that of teachers and education professionals.
In early childhood we often talk about children. We must meet their needs, That is the purpose of our jobs in this sector.
In National Education, we must meet the needs of students. In this context, I always try to ask myself the following question: Which place do we give to children and teenagers in our practice? A student is the profession carried out by children and teenagers, it is just a profession. By only speaking of “student” we deny the presence of other needs of children and teenagers.
What about the teachers and education professionals' needs? These needs often struggle to be heard and yet, if they were respected, it would be a real progress in the field of education because we can only develop the children well-being by developing adults well-being who care for them. people, including parents.
Emotions spread between adults but also towards children . I have always observed it and I had the opportunity to demonstrate it in the writing of my dissertation as an educator of young children which focused on the link between “supporting the child's emotions and living together” .
1. What can sophrology do for parents?
If emotions spread between adults and towards children. It is therefore interesting to support parents and future parents in managing emotions.
Sophrology appears to be a very suitable tool for this.
This is a method in which we use relaxation exercises combining controlled breathing, gentle movements, muscle contractions and relaxations as well as positive visualizations. Sophrology aims to make everyone autonomous in their practice and thus in their ability to manage their emotions and their stress. Sophrology exercises were created by Alfonso Caycedo with the aim of being adapted to our contemporary Western lifestyle.
Parents who manage to manage their stress and their emotions naturally transmit this ability indirectly to children. Adults are “learning models” for children, so we naturally transmit our behaviors to them (even if we don't realize it, you have probably already noticed that your children sometimes adopt the same approach or the same language tics as you... You may even repeat to them yourself the standard sentences that your parents used to say to you in your childhood...)

2. What can sophrology bring to educators?
In the same way as for parents, educational professionals transmit their way of experiencing emotions to children indirectly. Likewise, they directly (but often unintentionally) transmit their emotions to children.
A happy education professional will naturally make the children they work with happy. This happiness will also be easily shared within the educational team.

3. What can sophrology do for children?
Discovering emotions, expressing them, managing them, understanding them… it can be learned. Communicating with emotions can also be learned. Empathy courses are starting to be implemented at school and sophrology helps develop the psychosocial skills of children and adolescents.

Want to try, discover sophrology or get support:
I suggest sophrology consultations online using Skype for people from every country. Regularly, I go to the UK so I can intervene there.
